About Us
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation is the culmination of the dreams of several lung cancer survivors and their family members. Last year we came together to bring a run/walk to Minnesota’s Twin Cities. We saw a need as there has not been an event of this kind in the area. The first ever Twin Cities Lung Run/Walk of 2007 was so successful and we got such wonderful and inspiring feedback that we knew we needed to do more. Last year we were able to raise $72,152.22 which benefited Fairview Southdale Hospital’s Lung and Esophageal funds. We are committed to fight lung and esophageal cancer by raising funds for innovative research projects and increasing awareness of the world’s number one cancer killer.
We hope to put an end to the smoking related stigma that plagues victims of the lung cancer diagnosis. Lung cancer is the cancer that is still whispered in crowded rooms. It is the cancer that elicits the direct question, “did you smoke?” We want to take it out of the closet as if we should be ashamed and put it in the forefront that this is anyone’s cancer just like any of the others. Blame is a wasted effort and we, as a society, should be vigorously seeking a CURE for all cancers equally.
Thank you,
Judy, Kathy, Mary Jane, Shanna and Mike
