A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation’s board is in the process of deciding how proceeds from the Twin Cities Lung Run/Walk will be dispersed.
Topics of discussion are as follows:
The amount to donate to research grants to various organizations doing medical studies specific to searching for new treatments and finding a cure.
The amount to donate that will stay in our community to support patients and their families through donations made to local support groups, and other areas as determined by the Board of Directors.
The amount of our funds that will be set aside to fund future projects like the annual Twin Cities 5K Run/Walk and education seminars that will be useful to patients, caregivers and the medical community alike. We will also be discussing how we will work with the state for radon awareness and education.
Lung cancer is the number one cancer killing more people annually than breast, colon or prostate cancer combined. Awareness of this under funding and closing the door on these discrepancies in research dollars is vital to the success of making strides to conquer this disease. To that end we welcome collaborating with other non-profit organizations whose mission is, also, to find a cure for lung cancer in all its forms.
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Less money is spent on lung cancer research than on any other cancer. In 2007, the National Cancer Institute estimated it spent only $1,630 per lung cancer death compared to $13,452 per breast cancer death, $11,298 per prostate cancer death and $4,566 per colorectal death. |
